Welcome to Stroke Hub Wales
Advances in stroke research, innovation and education can improve patient care and quality of life.
Approximately 7,500 people will have a stroke, TIA or stroke mimic in Wales each year. There are almost 70,000 stroke survivors living with consequences of stroke.
The vision from the start has been to achieve a step-change in high impact stroke research, innovation, education and training. SHW achieves this by acting as a central resource and facilitates clear lines of communication and support between our seven Health Boards (HBs), Wales Ambulance Services Trust (WAST) and the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Wales. To this end it is governed by an Advisory Board that has representation from all the aforementioned partners as well as National leaders in Stroke healthcare and patients and carer representation.
